Damn car!! (Alternator)
Just driving home and battery light came on, 5 mins later dash lit up like a Xmas tree then car died, no hazards no power nothing. Just say waiting for green flag now.

Tested the alternator, only putting thru 10 (volts?) so looks like its that.Discovery 4 HSE Luxury Santorini MY12

Hopefully you can rescue the battery and get away with the alternator, good luck!

Don't know if this applies to the D3 electrical s, but last two alternator failures I had were preceded by the rev counter behaving erratically.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

3 weeks ago I had burning smell too plus strange noise from alternator, but no lights on the dashboard, so replaced alternator and aux belt, the strange noise has gone but burning smell still there, at a loss what it could be.Club Narpy Torch
