I will try and keep this short, as im sure like many of you I feel the need to have a major rant as yet again I chuck my tools on the floor!!. My EPB have finally crapped it self, When I fit a new module does it need to be calabrated????
Also I have only owned the car for only a year and seem to spend every month fixing the thing if I didn't love it so much I would have pushed it of a cliff 11months ago. Do the endless faults ever stop????????

A couple of months ago I had the screeching cat noise, I fixed that by fitting a new set of shoes as the hand brake lever was seized. Been perfect until today made a similar noise, now will not release not even with the emergency cable, im guessing the gears in the module are striped and jammed. And I will have to cut the cables to move her.
Any advice would be gratefully received

Manually unjam the module this way: EPB Unjam + Relatch
Then strip the discs off, and recheck the EPB shoes. If all is OK, adjust up and recheck. If it still jams on, or screeches, then it will need a new module. If it works OK, buy a 12 pack and celebrate My D3 Build Thread

Same thing happened to me. The shoes may have come away from the backing plate and jammed on even though you're yanking on the cable release. Took me a couple of hours each side and some Samson hammer swinging to get the damn disks free and off...
I'd be inclined to check that before rushing to the conclusion a new EPB module is needed...when it happened to me, I was unable to relatch and didn't see DM's cookbook for repair so ended up fitting a salvage unit at a fraction of the new part price. Didn't keep the old unit around unfortunately to see if it was recoverable...

Whooo hoooo!!!
Braved the rain and followed those instructions spot on, when you say jammed it took a pry bar and a hammer, very tight. What a prick of a spot to put it.
But now works perfect for now!!!
Massive thanks Disco_Mikey :thumbsu
