Heated windscreen connector location |
|
My heated windscreen is working only on the passenger side. I've done a forum search and have checked the fuses - both ok. I've seen reference to a connector behind the trim (near the air bag badge) but (a) I don't know which side, and (b) I'm a bit scared of removing trim that has an airbag behind it.
Can anyone please tell me which side it's on, whether it's top or bottom of the screen (presume bottom?) and which piece of trim I should take off - preferably without setting an airbag off in my face.
Many thanks in advance.

Two connectors each side.
One torx screw behind airbag badge holds the trim on
Comes off dead easy so don't worry

Removed the trim and found the +ve and -ve connectors. Voltage present so I guess the screen is goosed. Ah well - worth a shot!

Shuggy,
Using a multi meter on ohms/resistance, measure the resistance of each half of the windscreen in turn between the + and - connections of the windscreen (having disconnected the wires that feed the power to the windscreen) - if they are different then it would suggest there is a problem with one half, but if they're the same then it could just be a poor connection somewhere.
When one half of mine stopped working it was one of the connectors had become loose.
Also, I would guess that individual wires within a half might fail, but it would be unusual for a whole half to fail unless a common connection or point has failed. Tim

Thanks Tim
Will do. I won't have a chance for a couple of weeks.
