I was just doing a bit of research at the weekend, and was looking into the Nitto Terra Grappler tyres. Anyway, as we know, they're not available in Europe, but Toyo, the company who seem to make the Nittos, make their own A/T tyre to the exact same specs as the Terra Grappler - 285/60/R18 120 S. It looks almost identical to the T G too.
So, I was wondering if anyone has used this tyre on a D3, and any opinions as to how it'd compare to the standard sized (and higher speed rated) Grabber AT2? The Toyo tyres are available now, here in Ireland, which is an advantage.

Well I can certainly give a big for the Grabber AT2. Used mine in anger for the first time today to rescue a 110 that got stuck in wet clay in the woods I was working in. D3 walked it, then had to go back to drag the 110 through. Cracking tyre in the gloop I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Slight roadnoise at between 40-60mph depending on the surface, but that's got less over the first 200 miles to the point where it barely registers. Above that the wind noise is louder, so pretty darn quiet. Certainly no noisier than the Wrangler HP AW
As regards road holding, they seem marginally bouncier in the corners on poor surfaces and they do transmit bumps into the cabin a little more than the Scorpions, probably due to the sidewall construction. Again, only a minor thing that I'm happy to live with.
They seem to have a tendency to pick up stones between the tread if you regularly use gravel tracks and it can be a bit alarming when they decide to let go of them again at 60mph, firing them at your wheelarch with a bit of a bang.
All told, I'm glad I got them. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I think after reading your opinions that I'll just hang on and wait for the AT2s. Was just getting impatient which is why I was looking at alternatives. Thanks for the info IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

Don't know who the importer for General Tire is in Eire, but the UK importer/agent (4site4x4) received an initial batch of 300 tyres against 2000 pre-orders. I was fortunate to have got my order in early! The importer is expecting to clear all pre-orders in the first 10 days of April with the next batch from General Tire and will be carrying them as a stock item from mid to end April.
Note that not all pre-orders will have been retail, some of them will have been tyre depots looking to get a few into stock. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

ND, Do the sidewalls appear to be any tougher than the (rather delicate looking) HP's or Zero's?
- Any pictures of them on the car?

Sidewalls do seem tougher and have additional side mouldings to increase grip in mud. I'm in the middle of moving house this week so time is at a premium but will try and get some pics sorted by the weekend. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok?
