Help please, why is there no sound....? |
|
Is anyone able to help out with a problem with my 2005 D3 SE sound system.
My radio works, but there is no sound, or rather there is very infrequently and very randomly sound.
When there is no sound, there is no volume indicator displayed. However when there is sound, and I turn the volume knob, a volume level is displayed and I can access the volume settings.
I spoke to my local independent LR garage and they suggested reseting the ECU. So I have done this (by disconnecting the battery, waiting 15 mins for the system to drain of any charge etc) but frustratingly this hasn't worked!
Does anyone know of a solution?
Thanks for any advice!

Could be anything on the MoST network, so TMC, BT, Amp, head unit, screen.
Usually TMC failure. Get a MOST loop and disconnect the TMC (if you have it on your SE) then the BT (rear boot drivers side quarter panel)m then the screen. Bodsys Brake Bible
D4/D3 Remote FBH heat kits
BAS Remaps/ EGR Blank
Transmission Flush
Software updates/enabling

Thanks, I have run the diagnostics on the sat nav and it says that the TMC is not fitted, there is no BT(Bluetooth?), the sat nav works, and beeps when I press it, so it would point to the Amp or head unit?
The head unit sees. To have all the functionality - other then no sound.
I read on one of the posts on here if there was aMOST break the sat nav would work? So do you think is a fair assumption that there isn't a problem with the MOST cables?
If it is the amp, do you know how I can check it, I know it is under the drivers seat, but I have no idea on what to check, look for?
It seems strange because sometimes the sounds works and sometimes not?

For anyone else with similar problems, I have spent 30 mins looking under the drivers seat, and I think my problem might be something to do with loose connections.
As prodding and pushing the connectors together something seems to have work and sound works!!!
For how long I don't know, but it works!!!!!

When the silver TMS unit in the boot doesn't have power it causes this symptom.
I guess a dead optical network causes it. So many issues could cause this symptom. Some unit with a faulty optical tx/rx or looses its power intermittently. e.g the Amp.
