MY2012 gearbox, what on earth is going on |
|
I have suffered with the dreaded hesitation from new and have had the updated software on three occasions along with two new brake switches, all to no avail, and the difference between mine and Euans when driven back to back is immense. It was even looked at a couple of weeks ago and nothing has ever been found.
On Thursday night, when it was particularly cold, driving up the M77 something strange just suddenly happened, it started behaving exactly like Euans and maybe even too eager to change down, it has remained like that for a couple of days, it really is a new car!
Then this morning, again a cold morning (but not really really cold), was driving along the road, within half a mile of starting, it was sat at about two thousand revs, normally when relaxing pressure on the throttle it will change up, always a little reluctant when cold, but today it just wouldn't. Even when flicking the flappy paddle the number changed to the next number but then immediately went back to where it was, as if the revs were too low, but they were at two thousand still. This just wouldn't change until we got to traffic lights and stopped, from then on it has been absolutely normal.

If the TCM thinks that the transmission oil is not warm enough then it will instruct the box to hold a lower gear for longer in order to promote heat 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Even when using flappy paddles? and whilst it was cold it was only around 0 degrees. Be interesting to see what happens when it's really cold. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Yes it inhibits your control until it's reached the desired temp 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
