Im looking to export a Discovery 3 from the UK to my home in Africa but am struggling to find one I can trust to be rust free and in reasonable condition (it takes so long to get undercarriage pictures from dealers that by the time I get them the vehicle is usually long gone!)
I'm happy with any metallic colours as they don't show the dirt so clearly!
Any help would be hugely appreciated

I didn't know they had a rust issue ? I would have thought there are a load of other things to worry about before rust...... unless I am missing something ?James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

I saw one recently (a 2005 model) with minor rust underneath but am petrified of importing one with a serious rust problem (because of UK salting of roads from what I understand?)
I'm a first time buyer of an SUV so please forgive my total lack of knowledge on the subject
I'm hoping that, given the vehicle has a valid MOT, most other issues will be covered?
Thanks

I am no expert !!! Geoff and the others are the experts on here !
But rust isnt an issue, if they have any it will just be surface rust. Think most things to worry about include cam belt failure, EPB issues, suspension and tail boot not opening !!
Just get one with full service history that looks decent. Then ask one of the guys on here to check it over for you, am sure if Geoff et al are local they would do so for a number of beer tokens.James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

Far from it. The MOT only really covers roadworthiness- i wouldnt rely on that alone when buying one.
