Swiftcover & modifications

I run two cars (Disco & 335i) both insured with Swiftcover. Not had the disco that long and just had the rear windows tinted which the FAQs section of their website tells me is fine. Also seems that I'm ok to add a tow bar and roof rails.

Was looking at side steps/bars so dropped them an email and have since been told that if I fit aftermarket steps/bars this would be an "unacceptable modification". Cuoriosuly if they were fitted as part of the orginal spec or as an optional extra when the car was new, this would be fine.

I know I've probably been dealing with someone just quoting directly from a 'script' so wondered if anyone else on here is with Swift and had similar?

I don't want to shift insurance companies just yet as I had enough greif with insurance for one year!

Any advice on dealing with swift much apreciated.

Ian

Cheers for that - not thought about the cancellations department - I'd like to think they would want to retain my business, but sadly the 'script monkeys' couldn't really care less.

Problem with Swift is its mainly email - I did email the original chap back and asked for the question to be forwarded to a manager and received a reply back from another member of the 'team', just replyed to that one asking (again) for it to be passed to a manager.

Always feel a bit sorry for the 'front line' guys at these places as they just have to read a script rather than applying some common sense.

Know what you mean about insurance, I always declare everything to them, I'd rather not give them an excuse!
