Rear Camera see Tow Hook?
Hi
Firstly, sorry for all these threads!
Did a search but didn't find much,
Can you see the towbar on the back of a D4 from the reversing camera?
Thanks

I can see half of the tow ball from my camera - other half is hidden by the bumper.

Ok thanks, does it make it pretty pointless when it comes to hitching up or is it still of some use?

if you play with the screen options you get one which shows a red dot where the tow ball is and a solid yellow line to show the direction of travel for the trailer when hitched. the standard view shows the path of the wheels and wing mirrorsPrince Harry's D3: G4 factory equipped D3 - expo rack, winch, roof lights, ladder, active locking rear diff, RAI, Melville & Moon seat covers, General Grabber ATs/ Goodyear Duratrac

There are quite a few different rear camera installations out there, so read people's comments with care as they do not apply to all vehicles!

It's still of use - you can judge where it's at.
Mine is the LR detachable - maybe the fixed give a fuller view?
And when I did the LR off-road experience they showed me the setup they had where they could reverse up to the trailer, use the car's suspension and connect, all without getting out.

Hmmm Interesting.
My current car has it and gives full view of ball
D4 i am looking at does not have it and wondering if i will miss it for hooking up...
I'm confused, mines got the Detachable and I can clearly see the ball, this is the standard camera on a MY13

My comments relate to the OEM installationPrince Harry's D3: G4 factory equipped D3 - expo rack, winch, roof lights, ladder, active locking rear diff, RAI, Melville & Moon seat covers, General Grabber ATs/ Goodyear Duratrac

There is more than 1 OEM installation, even within single manufacturing years. I have the analogue single rear camera that has the fixed view with non-adaptive marker lines on my MY13 HSE.
Setting aside the more advanced set-ups the camera angles do vary; some have a good view of the ball, others partial and some hardly anything.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Mine is a standard factory fit and it shows the ball. With the air suspension, I can hitch up my trailer and drive off without ever getting out of the driver's seat (unless I need to plug in the electrics).MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

I hook up my trailer everyday without camera and get it spot on everytime by using the heated elements on my rear window as marker with top of trailer. As for not having to get out when hitching up, not only would you have to plug in electrics but the jockey wheel would still need raising. Too much reliance on technology these days.

On models fitted with the surround cameras (and maybe others) there is an option to enable "auto towball zoom" which zooms the camera to show the towball and hook on the trailer to allow fine positioning. Using air suspension allows you to connect without getting out of the vehicle, as demonstrated by LRE.

Yes I have it, and it is great for hitching up. You need to set it up though.
