1.9 million people signed the anti road pricing one then Blair wrote us all an email just to say fek off. Whats the point.
Are there any motoring organisations around that would get everyone together to block the streets, that would seem the only way now. After all, the Poll Tax riots worked.

Bloody shame that they did. Anyone see any correlation between the size of a house and the locally funded facilities its occupants use? Or is it more likely to be the case that a better indicator is the number of occupants? What we need is a tax that recognises the number of people in a house and...... oh.
To petition to do away with RFL and add it to fuel tax is still wrong. We pay more motoring related taxes in this country than many of our EU neighbours so how about we simply have a petition that says "you've squeezed us until the pips squeaked, now back off or see direction action on the streets" rather than "please take the money from us another way.
Any tax on fuel disproportionately impacts on those of us who live in the countryside who get no help from public transport. I can't help feeling this government has an agenda to pave over half the country and fence off the rest, banning people from living outside of towns.
I'd love 5 minutes with Gordon Brown and a crowbar, I really would. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Got to agree about the poll tax. Two of us live in a rural location and pay £2500 for a single street light. There are no 'amenities' here, we get a refuse collection once a fortnight, and I doubt if the Police / Fire service could even find the place. Meantime, the great unwashed sponging off the state with their five offspring can live in a city council house with everything around them and they are paying less than half as much as we are.

I'm dreading the reclassification of Council Tax, been on Band A since I moved in 6 years ago........ 5 bed 3 ex tilers cottages now in one....... Methinks my tax will increase......
As for the village, there's a bus 4 times a day, but if I wanted to get to work, I would have to leave at 6 in the morning and arrive at work at 8.45. Instead of my 17minute drive in each day.
Worse on the way home, I'd have to get the 5pm bus and get home around 8.30.......
And on the days I go to the airport........ Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy... I hear you mate. Same here.
One bus through town and the times are never right to sync with any others you actually want to use
But we do choose to live here and not a big town or city.
If we make those choices then I'm afraid we have to pay a little extra and suffer less public services for the benefits of a better environment to bring up our kids.
Would rather do this than live in a city any day.

We have 4 busses a day through our village and I always seem to meet one on the tight bend entering the village. Back in the game!

They will never put the tax on fuel, because 1.. at the moment they are getting it both ways, 2.. tomorrow the RFL will increase but so will fuel duty. 3... if they did away with the RFL. where would they store all the red tape in force which allows us to pay the RFL in the first place. never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly

Yes but like we always do we just moan about it and do nothing, I for one would go on the streets over this whole tax job, they have fooked it right up like they did last time.
Its time to stand up and be counted.
