| Changing to winter wheels and tyres. Any tpms complications? |

I know little about how the tpms system works and have already bought winter wheels and tyres.
My local tyre depot will change them over.
Should I?
Have the sensors fitted in the winter wheels (is there any problems with that?)
Ignore them and leave them stored away in the Summer wheels (can they just be left, no batteries to drain?)
If I leave them in the Summer wheels will the info display think there is some fault and give me warning messages?

Not got a D4 so don't know about your message centre but I could guess you will get errors as the signal is not coming through.
The TPMS units have a small battery in them (like a key fob or watch battery) which should last many years, so either swap the sensors over or get a new set coded up.
I have been looking at the kit to code these, universal sensors are about £45 each then need coding ....I wonder how much they are from JLR? Paul Redding

You could turn the TPMS off on our 2010 D4 via the settings menu  Mark

Or just get a spare set of TPMS sensors & have them fitted to your set of winter wheels/tyres. The system will reset to them when the wheels are changes - that way you continue to benefit from the TPMS that you've had installed!

Good idea but have I missed something? I thought they are very expensive or is there an inexpensive source? Brian - East Sussex

Can't remember the cost, but relative to the cost of a tyre it will seem cheap if it warns you of a deflation

Really?! I have a 2010 D4 with TPMS and the only option that is available is to change the load setting from Low to High pressure and visa versa, but not switch it off.
That said, I'm in the same position, I have a set of winter wheels without sensors (at present) and was wondering what the system will do when no sensors are detected. I'll tell you weekend after next as thats when I'm hoping to swap them over, providing my back has recovered by then
