discovery 4. hse 2013

Hello, do you know why my discovery shows the fuel range as 400 miles
When I fill up the tank?
I thought the range is around 550 miles?
Thanks

It's estimated relative to your current mpg Smile

You'd have to be getting 30.5 mpg to get 550 from a full tank Smile

Lucky you! Mine show 428 but instead of miles I have Km... No Diesel Land Rovers in Japan Sad

I am also surprised that I had better mileage with my P38 4.6HSE (95) than my LR4 in town...

A few weeks ago I filled the tank with the wrong fuel. Luckily LR fixed it
With only a few hundred pounds.
All ok now.
I wonder if that issue may have caused the car to use more fuel
than before?
Thanks

My D4 showed 560 miles after filling but I didn't get much more than 520 from a tank with only or dozen or so miles left according to the display.

Having altered the CCF to make the mpg display more accurate it now shows just 400 miles with a full tank - pretty sure I can still get over 500 miles from it!

I think the initial range calculation does not come off the trip or the current mpg and I guess it is learned after a protracted period. The actual range is then refined as you go along. I think my range calculation was zero'd completely with the instrument cluster write and will learn a new mpg in time.

Thumbs Up

As DG states, its based on your current mpg, ie your type of driving, if you were just pottering around town it would show a low tank range, or if you were upand down the motorway each day cruising getting optimum mpg the tank range would be higher,

The best way to check is not use the guage but calculate based on amount filled up and miles covered on brim to brim fill ups.... Or drive like you got 50 miles to go with only 20 miles left in the tank.... We've all been there Whistle
If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

What did you put in, in what quantity, what quantity was in there before, did you turn the ignition on and did you start the car?

The maximum I have managed to squeeze in was 74.5 litres and the fuel light had been on for 50 miles and only single digits remaining on the range. I cannot imagine getting in over 80 litres, my stress level would be too high!

Put petrol in tank. 75%
Drove for a mile.
LR fixed it.
Can this cause high fuel consumption now?
Thanks
