Fitting spotlights
I want to fit some long range spotlights to my D3 V8.
I am getting quoted about R4000 just for a LR bracket and labour. Lights are seperate. I dont want to put on a bull bar so I am looking for a mounting setup that can work with the standard bumper and still accomodate something like the KC daylighter 130w or the hella xenons.
I have previously seen a D3 with a very neat moulded bracket for IPFs but no one seems to know anything about this and I cant find anything on the web.
Has anyone got a good instalation directly on to the bumper?

Lights
Hi DiscoJ, you would probably be better putting your query on to the "technical" D3 in UK. There must be a lot of knowledge ref this over there - It's darker!!!

Replying to my own post.
Have found a nice solution to fit a set of 130w KC daylighters directly onto the bumper with a bit of extra bracing in the bumper.
should work nicely. will know later this week.
might have to test them on people that drive around with the rear fog lights on all the time.

Baben, looks good. How much does that cost if you dont mind me asking?
I have fitted the KCs and I am happy with the extra light and range I get from them.
How effective are the LEDs vs the normal disco lights?
cheers

I didn't buy it (yet) Summit sell them locally for R8k, which is over budget

they look pretty good, are they quite stable?
I have a few lying around in the garage - might replace my LR ones with them when the LR ones die..cheers

the KCs are completely stable. I have used them on some bad gravel roads travelling up to about 80kmh and no excessive vibration.
They do make a nice difference in terms of reach but very yellow compaired to the standard xenon dipped and halogen brights.
Maybe at some stage I will upgrade to LEDs or HIDs but these are fine for now.
they give me more confidence driving rural roads at night.

its similar to the picture I posted above, but its a single row high and 700mm wide, which will fit perfectly between the uprights of the A-bar. I intend to mount it under the top bar, ie. at bonnet height

It arrived!
So I couldn't wait to fit it properly, I just placed it on top of the A-bar and connected to the battery.
Oh my word!

It is so bright, my eyes are still hurting. This is in the day in the bright African sun! I am scared to turn this thing on at night
