As a soon to be new owner I have been impressed with the room in the back of the D3. I have to carry out radio surveys around the country and need to take aerials and poles with me. I think for the most I will be OK putting the kit in the back and may still be able to have one or two seats up. Time will tell!
On my TD5 I have a Hannibal full length roof rack, having ditched the LR expedition rack on which I added chequer plate to one side so I could walk on it and bars on the other side for a roof box.
I am now considering that there may still be some use for a roof rack on the D3. My two choices would be the Hannibal or D3 expedition rack.
Questions are as follows to owners of either:
1. How heavy are they?
2. Are they easy to remove from the rails?
3. Are you able to stand comfortably on the LR one (you can on the Hannibal) or are the bars too far apart?
4. How much wind noise do you get?
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Chris

Hi Chris
Have a search on the forum for roofrack - you will get a lot of info.
A short answer to your questions based on LandRover rack vs FrontRunner rack:
1) LandRover rack is very light, maybe 25kg FrontRunner is about 35kg
2) LandRover yes, FrontRunner a bit more work. LR rack you can do yourself, FR you will need 2 people
3) LR rack, no (well I battle at only 80kg). Bars too far apart, and a bit flexible. FR rack a bit better but you still wouldn't dance up there.
4) LR rack quite a bit, FR rack lots
I believe the Hannibal is a bit like the FR rack, but do a search and have a read, there are guys on the forum with every type of rack you can imagine (and then some )

Hi Baben,
Thanks for your information. Much as I thought, but keen to see what other users say.
My Hannibal is very strong to stand on. As an amateur photographer I use it when travelling to take photos.
I am keen on having something that is easy to take off when not in use. It seems to me that having the ability to have a rack is useful so the LR one maybe the answer, but I will need something to stand on!
In the meantime I have a full length LR expedition and Hannibal rack to sell from my TD5!
Regards
Chris
