Brake pads
Hi all, looking for advice from the wise ones
We are currently on holiday in Midi Pyrenees and the brake pad warning light has come on. Being paranoid it's sent me into panic mode.
Is it an immediate fix or is it one that can wait until we get home. French is non existent so thought of dealing with a dealer does not bode well
Thanks in advance

Don't worry about it - should be fine for a few weeks I reckon. Take the wheel off & have a quick look if it makes you feel better - my pads had plenty of meat on when the light came on last time.
I'm sure a proper mechanic will be along soon to confirm?

Thanks Richard
Strangely went into supermarket, came out half hour later and no light. Just done 100km and warning light has only just come back on
You should be ok just try to not use them as much if you have to, its a warning that the pads are getting low not worn out..

It's a warning that the ones with the sensors are low, It tells you nothing about the condition of the rest of the pads though.
Didn't you do any kind of pre-trip inspection?
I'd be getting under there to have a look. But to be fair, if you take it to a dealership and point at the light then point at the brake pads then they're gonna have a fair idea what you want.....

Thanks all
Turns out the maintenance man who looks after the house we are renting is from Birkenhead but has lived here for last 3 years and is a member of the local Landrover club ( also drives a serious off road D2) , has organised with neighbour of his who is the local landrover indy to fit new pads
He's already ordered the parts and will fit next week.

No engine warning light, got amber exclamation mark, amber brake warning and message saying "Brake Pads Worn)
Annoying as I got we'll known tyre chain to check car before we came, said tyres would be ok for a further couple of thousand but I changed all 4 anyway, no mention of pads looking low.
Should have known there would be trouble as service message came up as soon as we got off ferry in Calais !
Still car behaved faultlessly again on trip down

Did my brakes today after getting some grinding from the rear.
This is why we don't rely on pad wear sensors. Pads on right have the sensor, pads on left don't.2014 D4 XS

Looks like you got good value for money on the ones on the left James - the ones on the right surely have a few 1000 miles left on them??????

Managed to replace the sensors on Saturday that the French Mechanic could not get in time, used Bodsy's advice and wedged the wheel arch liner up with bit of wood, still an absolute pain in the to get to the connector and release it !
Over an hour of swearing on the front sensor, 10 minutes on the rear - who in their right mind decided to route the front connector behind the wheel arch liner
