Afternoon peeps
My top tailgate is playing up
Once you open it if you try to open it again it won’t open but if left for a while it will again open etc and so on
It isn’t the cable I have checked and that’s fine
It’s like a loss of power to the actuator when I took it out and operated it, it makes all the correct noises but as you operate it it draws the actuator less and less as if the battery is going flat
Is there a relay somewhere associated with it that could be faulty, it’s becoming a pain and swmbo getting fed up with it
Cheers

When my tailgate behaved in a similar fashion it was the actuator at fault, as you say, it would work once only. Replaced actuator and no more issues. Stu

I had a similar symptom with mine and it was the switch, there is an aluminium padel behind the rubber which actuates the micro switch. This had become corroded and was not releasing the switch properly. I took it out and cleaned it up and it’s been fine since

Switch cleaner spray on the micro switch inside the top tailgate handle worked for me although not a permanent fix as I’ve had to do it a couple of times in last few months. Be careful removing the switch assembly from the top handlle, very easy to break the little plastic retaining lugs.
