Tried that, just cutting up my hands trying to feed it through with a cable tie. iPod instructions show just pull it out but mine is not shifting!
PS Trying to send U a PM DW but failing!

I have removed mine to fit a dvd player in there. It was a real to get out ..i found it easier to remove the consul surround and the passenger side vent ..then got me hands in each side and gave it a push outwards ...
Will try and find a pic of the offending clips ..G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Hers a couple of pics
If i remember correctly it was the 2 big plastic lugs on the bottom pic that caused the grief ..there is also 4 smaller ones 2 on each side ...you can make them out on the bottom pic ..be carefull ..the metal clips go flying !!!
Hope this helps G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

If you need new clips they cost about £1.09 from your dealer - the panel next to the steering wheel (with the temp sensor in) on my car only had 3 (should have 4) on and was making a squeaking sound - couldnt be bothered getting it sorted under warranty and just bought another clip - irritating squeak noise now gone 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

It's a pain to remove. A Wiggs mentioned, remove the center surround and side vent cover first. Then it's just pulling. What helped me was carefully prying each side with a screwdriver.
