Tonga Time

And so begins a new Discovery. My last Disco was a D2 with a Chevy V8 small block, time for something more sensible Smile

Managed to find a 06 with 80 000 miles, full service history, and very sound mechanically. Needs some TLC, and previous dog owner means hair everywhere. But am looking forward having some fun with this build. Need it to be a daily bike hauler (5 bikes), and hopefully a bit of a tourer.

Day 1, let the vacuuming and dog hair removal begin:

Rear seats and carpet are quite badly damaged by a paint spill. New seats are on the long lists.

Short term solution to get wheels turning:

New ebay key programmed with Autel AP200, nice and easy.

Fog lamp fog has to go:

Found a friend and installed some roof bars and bike racks (also short term)

Such a mission to get bikes on the roof, going to need rock sliders Smile

Found a hill to climb:

This should fix the wheel problem:

Took a lot longer than I thought, probably spent too long sanding and prepping the wheels.

Did the badge and side grille while I was there Smile

Tinted the rear lights, didn't want to go to dark just take the red edge off

Tangy:

De-Tang. Used 2 hair dryers and a fan heater. Worked like a charm Smile

Used the PowerfulUK tang kit, bit cheesy bit takes the edge off

Got me thinking, should I go LR4 grill???? (THIS IS A PHOTOSHOP Smile

Lack of tech was getting to me, installed an Android unit which has turned out a lot better than expected. Nice and fast, latest OS and have been able to install all the apps could ever ask for.

A mistake with the Dremel resulted in a chunk missing from the dashboard, and a serious bruise to my ego Sad Also why I took no install photos.

Fit is good enough and the install was pretty easy, besides cutting out the old cubby hole.

Apple music app works great.

No looking back, but need to find a new home for the mic:

Wanted a discreet reversing camera, so found an ebay one that splits license plate light in half. To be honest the quality is pretty bad and I'll be replacing this with a decent one shortly.
