TomTom sound via radio

(I buried this question in a previous post about my new D3, posted again for clarity.. Smile )

I'm now wondering if I can hook up my TomTom to the radio input (I assume the standard Nav has a sound input to the audio soemwhere) so I can use the car speakers for Navigation - hopfully it can use the audio mute and differential volume (that I also found on the radio) for the Nav sound.

Anyone know if this is possible..???

cheers

If you have the base radio set up wire a socket into the aux in. Then pug it in see my post: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic7072.ht...akers+base

Thanks guys...a couple more questions...

I was looking for a solution that automatically muted the radio when the TomTom was speaking - I assume that by using the Aux input I have to specifically select Aux or Radio..?

I was hoping that I could find the input that the higher spec models with Sat Nav use - I seem to remember (during a test drive in an HSE) that when the Sat Nav speaks, the radio mutes/goes quiet. Is this possible by finding the Sat Nav input to the radio..?

BTW, my D3 is an XS model, so has premium radio, but no Sat Nav.

If you have got the ISO fittings at the back of the radio and are going to buy the Tom Tom hardwire kit I have one I could sell. Never been used as it wouldnt fit the TT it was bought for as it has the Bose system. PM me if you are interested as I am coming up to the Lakes weekend in Feb and could bring it up

Thanks, although the TomTom in question is actually an iPAQ with TT Navigator 6, which has lead with it.

Thanks for the offer though..Wink
