TomTom on iPhone 4s - D4 Connectivity Issue
Apologies if this has been raised before but if it has, it has eluded my searches. Having found the LR satnav inadequate - poorly positioned for visibility & traffic nigh on useless - I am using the TomTom app on my iphone 4S.
I can get the phone's sound through the D4 AV if I connect via the iPhone cable in the centre console but then cannot see the phone's screen and I have to have the iPhone music playing.
If I mount the iPhone on the dash, I have to connect via BT for hands-free and again am obliged to listen to iPhone music output to hear directions.
What I really want is DAB radio music on the D4 AV, BT phone dialling etc and TomTom directions from the phone speaker. I suspect that this is not possible because the BT connection seems to cancel the iPhone audio output?
Or is there a way to do it please?2010 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand on GY DTs (was on GG ATs)

OK 44 views and no replies so I'm guessing the answers are yes and no! 2010 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand on GY DTs (was on GG ATs)
Have you tried a small, battery-powered external speaker plugged into the dash-mounted iPhone and pairing it with BT? You should then get the D4 music cut with an incoming call, yet not for the directions from the TomTom app.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Thanks for that Dr L. But I suspect the BT output from the iphone cuts out the output to the headphone port - I'll give it a try to confirm one way or t'other. Thanks again 2010 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand on GY DTs (was on GG ATs)

I have finally worked out what was the problem - me! - or more precisely my eyesight!
It seems that the TomTom app starts up with the speaker muted - this is indicated by a tiny icon in the corner of the screen. As this is a mouth, I interpreted it as 'voice on' but it actually has a tiny and very faint diagonal line through it - ie it indicates 'voice off'!
Once I had recognised and rectified this, we had directions via the phone's speaker and - with BT enabled and paired, hands-free dialling via the D4.
Only drawback is that the D4 radio does not mute for the TomTom directions but that is fairly minor disadvantage I can live with. 2010 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand on GY DTs (was on GG ATs)
