Just had four fitted after having full road-bias tyres and on-road can't tell much difference. Handling seems sharp enough, low noise and good on wet roads (this is Devon !!)
Had GGs in the past on my earlier Discoverys (300tDi and TD5) and had always been happy with their performance and wear rates.Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

Looking to get some AT3s fitted. Going to get them mail order as I'm having the wheels sprayed and the sprayer will refit and balance them as part of the price.
Current have GG ATs which are 255/60r18 112H.
Looking to go with the same size and weight/speed rating again but noticed some have XL or XL FR in the part number. I believe this stands for eXtra Load and the FR is to do with side wall. Is this standard on all GG AT3's or are there actually different options. If so what is the best option to go for.
2005 D3 SE
1998 Disco 300tdi - slow play thing
1995 Defender 300tdi - Winching play thing
Aprilia RSV 1000 - fast play thing
Honda CR250 - noisy play thing
I've moved on to a D4 from my D3 which was on GG AT3s, and have been thinking of Winter/Off-Road tyres and had virtually decided to go for 255/55/19 General Grabber AT3 then I read this review "2018 Auto Bild SUV All Season Tyre Test":-
They came 8th out of 10 tyres with the summary being:-
Positive: Low noise level.
Negative: Very poor wet grip, high risk of aquaplaning, long stability and long braking distances in the snow.
Overall: Not recommended.
I must confess to being very surprised !
Where now?
