Time to say goodby to the D3

I honestly thought I’d keep her till she stopped especially at 260k I’ve replaced all the suspension, steering, upgraded the brakes to V8 ones and she never once met me down I even had her booked in for a full gearbox refurb the only thing bothering me was the lacquer coat had started to delaminate in lots of areas over the car and thus was going to cost decent money to fix but I still was going to do it, then I was offered a 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 and it turned my head so a deal was done and I’ve gone to the dark side Laughing. Safe to say I’ll still be lurking on here and will be posting a load of bits for sale in the next few weeks, thanks to all those who have helped over the past 5 years I hope the full fat forum guys are just as helpful

I would be interested in how you like it compared to the D3.

I drove a l322 3.0 (2007/8 I think) and was very disappointed with it. I accept it was only a 3.0 but it felt like a boat and didn't feel very reassuring on the road.

Since then I have always dismissed the full facts.

This is the 4.4v8 with adaptive handling it’s far superior to the D3 in acceleration and cornering the 8speec box is a dream so far I’m very chuffed with it

The tdv8 is a beast. I have a 2011 vogue se (well
Her indoors does) as well as my disco. Totally different drive but can’t beat the disco for its adaptability and massive load space. Smile

Nice looking l322 that one. Smile

I will miss the versatility of the disco interior but if I’m honest I’ve got a van for my business and the time has come to keep the two separate, The one thing I’m not keen on is the fixed parcel shelf I’d rather have the roll out version like the disco

I often wonder how you manage to run a V8?! Especially with the price of petrol these days.

A mate of mine has a V8 RR which he bought cheap because it had a number of problems and he only bought it because it had the conversion LPG? And the fact that it was really cheap to buy, the last time I spoke to him about it, it had cost him almost 5k in repairs but that’s another story.

Totally agree on the parcel shelf! We just have ours out of the car! It’s a crap design as well, because of the way it folds, you can’t load the boot up to the back as high as the select itself because to lift the shelf it actually has to go down slightly at the back in order to unfold! On the plus side, it’s a lot more plush inside and therefore riding a round with no parcel shelf doesn’t mean it sound a like your in a bean can like some cars! Lol

TDV8 and from what I’ve found out it won’t be any more to run than my disco sitting at 50 the engine is at 900 rpm in 8th
