I had the D3 re-mapped 2.7 and now the D4 3.0.
The re-mapped 2.7 is still no match for the standard 3.0 D4. The ability for the 3.0 to produce 85% of its torque (510Nm) at idle cannot be matched.
I recently had two fellow Landrover owners in my vehicle for a total of around 90Klm's. One has the D3, the other the D4, both with 2.7 motors. Both commented on the power and lack of turbo lag.
If you are towing a 2.5 ton van, my choice would be the 3.0Lt.
If you are serious about buying one, the dealer should give you a demo for the weekend (I know ULR Melbourne do). Try both with your van on. I'm sure the 3.0Lt will leave you grinning despite the cost difference.
Cheers, Craig

I'd like another gear between 2nd and 5th with my 3.0 to make better use of the torque in the 1500-2000 rpm range. Home of LLAMS, for LRs and Jeep GCs

So the 8 speed will be on the MY12?
What other goodies could we expect, and do you know manufacture start dates?
When I was talking to the stealer they told me if I put my name down now I'd get a car manufactured in June, delivered September. 2012 MY13 SDV6 SE D4 Ipanema Sand with Almond leather
2012 TDI Passat - they reckon the DSG is crap, I reckon it's awesome
2010 MY11 Mitsubishi Challenger - Gone (it was a "Challenging Year")
2007 MY08 TDV6 SE - gone

Hello All,
Finally bit the bullet and have just picked up a new D4 TDV6. Ended up getting a 7 seater w/leather at what I thought was a good deal and am very impressed with the vehicle to say the least. (Permagrinning madly). I dont need 7 seats so will be removing them for the extra stowage space as per my 5 seater D3. Does anybody have a set of D3 5 seater loadspace floor pieces or know if they available from LR as Spare Parts?

Sorry Swampy I threw my loadspace bits out about a month ago when I fitted the rear seats I got from Old Salt [/code] D3 2005 HSE V8 model, snorkel, nudge bar, uprated tow hitch (12T), Goodyear Wrangler MTR (MT) tyres, National Luna battery box, Outback roof-rack, Takla seat covers.

Don't get to excited about the 8 speed auto for Oz.
I was thinking that waiting for the D4 MY12 was a good idea until I enquired locally about when we can get MY12 pricing and found out we won't be seeing an 8 speed in our D4's in 2012.
It would be interesting to find out why the UK is getting this major change and not our market (even small compared but still significant).
Anyway I need a D4 so I'm not waiting.

GraemeS wrote: A significant disadvantage for me was the big brakes preventing fitment of 17" rims, but those brakes are now gone. There is also an after-market 18" rim that fits, although the tyre range may be limited depending on how HD and what size the tyres need to be.
What is the go with the brakes ? I want a 3.0 but want to keep my 17" New MY15 TDv6 D4 in Buckingham Blue

Only way for 17 inch wheels to fit the D4 3.0L is to change the brakes. you will need an engineers cert. Ask Graeme.
You can get 18 inch wheels to fit though. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
