I think I am leaving

Well... To be honest, it is with a heavy heart that I am probably going to sell "Hiccup" my D3 even though I have only had her for 1 year.

She is in lovely condition cosmetically, and has almost NO rust on her at all, but at 210000Km, things are starting to wear out, and every month there is something else that need doing on her, and considering that I drive approx. 30000km per year, I cannot afford to have her off the road every few weeks while something else is repaired.

The same goes for my RRS (I am sure that they talk to each other, and decide what is going to go wrong this time as they have the same problems come up).

So... I went to the stealer this morning, to look at the D5. I don't like the style as much, but I need a proper 4x4 to be able to two my horses, and also to get in and out of the horse field with the water reservoir behind the car. I cannot afford to get a tractor, and I don't want to get stuck, so I am pretty much stuck with LR, JEEP … An SUV is not really an option.

Well... they have a LOVELY D5 (FULL OPTIONS!!!) TDv6 258bhp that is a "one off" special model that the stealer bought as a demo model.

They are going to give me an offer, and I will probably take it (with extended warranty to 5 years).

It is a lovely vehicle, and I HOPE that it will be a good one!!

Anyway... I will update later when I know more, but in case I leave this forum, thanks for all the advice and comments that you have given!!

Best regards.

Nick

I will stay here, and I have already been reading the D5 forum.

Here is a photo of the one that I want to get.

I am just waiting for the final price. I know that it will hurt, but sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.

Yes, it is Namib Orange.

Apparently it is a "one off" vehicle, and there is no other like here in Luxembourg.

It if FAR too expensive, but what the hell ... sometimes you have to be silly and take a gamble.

I am going to sign the purchase contract later today. I will then have the exact list of all specs, but it is LONG.

Just a small question... I have a RRS 2.7tdv6 with the 20" rims. Am I correct that the D5 uses the same size tires?

D5 on 20's uses 255/50x20's, RRS probably has 275/45x20's, but you could use these on the D5

My D5 has 285/40x22's on

Alloy rims are different offest on D3 to D5. the tyres aspect ratio is slightly different too, but check online calculator to see what rolling radius is.

Well.. I signed on the dotted line!!

I have the details of the car now... it was bought by the dealership last year to celebrate their 150 year anniversary. They basically built a D5 that is as good offroad as they could make it. They have added skid plates underneath, roof-rack, spots, offroad tires etc.

Inside... it has every option possible.

The ONLY bad thing about it is that it is actually a model 2018 with the td6 engine rather than the latest

Here are a few more pics:
