It’s difficult to say. Other than it just did not sound right.
But noise has gone now. Hopefully hopefully it’s the engine is ok.
If not I can’t see me putting another one in.

Have asked a mate with loads of experience of running 400k miles engines in vans about the possibility of a dropped valve he felt that a dropped valve scenario would have done untold damage and most likely the engine would have seized solid , bent a con rod ,snapped crank ,hole in a piston or block damage , as your engine is turning over it sounds that you motor has not suffered any of those
good luck

You should see more fuel pressure than what you posted when you crank it over.

Just a update. The car is in the garage and it won’t start but turns over still.
They say it has the crankshaft sensor fault on it.
They report that the engine sounds ‘very dry’ when turning over but the oil level is fine.
Any suggestions

Does anybody know any decent Landrover mechanic that is mobile around the south York’s area.
I need to work out what the problem is so I can make a decision to break if necessary. I think the garage where it is have gone as far as they can with it.

Talking to a few people I think one of the crank shells has spun. The starter motor would not turn when it first happened and now it turns and stops as if it’s tighting up.
It’s showing the crank sensor fault as well.
My options are to repair with a new engine 6.5 k
Sell as a whole
Break.
So my thoughts are towards breaking as it needs to fund another car.

Ahh, sorry to hear that.
Was hoping it was something repairable.
