Is there such a thing & has anyone experienced a bad Remap? |
|
I’m looking to get my 2006 D3 remapped mainly to try and improve the Mpg
I’ve heard good things about BAS remaps but they are to far away from me in Cornwall and I don’t want the expense of there remote systems so I’ve ruled them out
Alive are also known to be good with the D3 and are about an hour away and have quoted £354 with an estimated 225bhp / 520Nm
Celtic Tuning are just round the corner from me and a lot of friends have used them for there Audi’s etc with good results, they have quoted £250 216bhp / 498Nm
Nether can give an exact figure on the improvement on Mpg
Would anyone go for the cheaper local option or go for Alive?
Thanks

Many moons ago I used a localish remap company .. absolute disaster
3 attempts to get it right .. horrendous fuel economy first , black smoke second ... and finally breaking down after the 3rd
Pete Bell sorted it out and perfect after that G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

If you are having a remap purely to improve economy I think you will be disappointed!- if it's for performance and you have a renowned one It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I reckon they put the word economy to sucker people in.
You know the old saying, if it seems to good to be true!

Mine had a "local" map on it when I bought it privately, the previous owner didn't have any paperwork to show who did it though so I had no info on the quality of the map.
I paid for Bodsy to wipe it and install a BAS map on it so that I at least have peace of mind that it's not straining the engine. I've heard a few horror stories about dodgy remaps - and I had a Disco 2 which has manifold issues after I mapped it - so I tend to think you're better to be safe with these kinds of thing. 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

BAS or Alive every time I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

It sounds like Alive is going to be the way to go
Do they do any sort of discount for Disco3.co.uk members?
