...and how would you rate the accuracy of that statement Andy 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
The whole life cost of the Merc is cheaper than the equivilent Audi and BMW The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Sounded attractive so he took my details and said he'd get me a trade-in price for the D3.
Rang me yesterday to say the most they could offer me was ........
£9500 or should that be
What do you think - are they taking the or what
I suppose I ought to quickly say that our D3 is a 2006MY, 55 plate HSE with almost 64K miles on the clock. Haven't done any research on 2nd hand D3 values but the local dealer had a 55 plate S model on the forecourt on Sunday for just under £16K
Give me a shout if you do want to sell it. I might be interested, depending on mileage
cheers

*Slpuuuuuuuuuurt*. Sorry just spilt my Beechams.......
It's a company car I have ordered.
I looked at the A4 Avant but useable space in the boot was rubbish, and the BMW was even worse. Jag X Type was just too old .
The Merc made most sense. It's cheaper per month, same fuel economy but i get 13p per mile as it's above 2 litre instead of 10p for the Audi and BMW. The Merc has the same CO2 emmisions as the BMW @ 130 but the Audi is 144.
Here are the details from my employers fleet website. I've tried to get a fair comparison regarding model:
A4 Avant Executive TDI SE 170 6 SP Man. Cost per month=£667.84. List price=£26430.00
3 Series Touring 320d SE Business Edition 6 SP Man. Cost per month=£692.17. List price=£27990.00
C-Class Estate C220 CDI Elegance 6 SP Man. Cost per month=£613.05. List price=£26535.11
Sorry to hijack your thread Albourneboy, but this is not entirely off topic The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

No doubt its a good car Snowy and you'll be well happy with it . After the A class in personal ownership - never again - its a dog!
TBH the A4 has been the cheapest car I have run in terms of fuel and serving BUT it is too low and too small and the S-Line ride is now to bumpy along Farnhams crap roads..
I am not sure about costs but the 520 fits my criteria of a huge boot and being able to fit a full size adult behind my drivers seat. Plus it has toys
