Theft of headlights and grill
Wednesday I had the adaptive headlights and black grill removed from my run out Landmark.
If that was not bad enough there is collateral damage to the bonnet, side panels and extensively to the bumper. The left light was broken in the process, as there the slider had not been successfully lifted as had the others and the light's mounting lugs were broken off that unit.
Dealer stated I was the third in last few days. Police informed so yet another figure and I doubt anything more than that.
Hard to credit we have people like this among us, and even harder to think how we can avoid being their victims. All done without undoing the bonnet and setting off the cars alarm.

Terrible news. There are some real bad people out there.
as was pointed out to me when my first D4 was stolen … LR have been making vehicles that the parts from mine can be used on since 2004. that's a big market for 2nd hand parts.
And it's as bad, if not worse, with other Land Rovers. Someone on Landywatch reported a dumped Deafener to the police and got a phonecall back saying (IIRC) they found THREE more stripped ones in the trees next to it..

They managed to do enough of that with no intervention from me
Thanks everyone, I will study how to make it more difficulty if and when I get sorted. However, possibly as you say they will vent their frustration when they return to get my new set, by doing even more damage.

Sorry to hear About that. Chances are they were stolen by someone who will just sell them on for a large profit.
Would it be possible to fit a second bonnet switch behind the grill that would set off the alarm if the grill was removed while the car was locked? I presume they take the grill off first to give access to the lights.

Now "Erea" that is a concept that really does appeal, micro switches on each light and onto the grill.
Am I right in thinking all I need is to link some normally closed switches together and link to the existing bonnet switch so any of these being interfered with "grounds" that feed?
In my case I am sure if removing the grill was the first act, the alarm going off would ensure all the neighbours would react and the outcome probably would have been quite different. It would be something any thief would be unlikely to be expecting.

I put on "parallel" with the bonnet switch a microswitch for "monitoring" the front grill.....
Very well hidden and tamper proof..... I can not say anything else or I'll have to kill you

Are D4 headlights coded to the vehicle?
I am told Audis in the US are, so enabling a dealer to identify where stolen items have been fitted. That seems a good concept in deterring theft if the "buyer" knows they can readily be detected.
