Hi brooks1sr
Like yourself, I had a test drive and was very impressed with the D4's application of power with it's 3 litre engine and the 2 turbos relative to the D3. The vehicle also seemed quieter.
However, like yourself as a D3 SE owner I was most disapointed that there was not a D4 SE.

Same here SE is the right spec level for me...strange they have kept SE spec on the RRS..but not D4..not done a spec by spec of RRS SE against D4 XS though perhaps they are equivilant.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

IMO, they're trying to push the D4 HSE way up the league.
Alienating it almost from all other D4 models.
So for now the SE name is too close to HSE, so will drag it down.
But for later, when they need to push for more sales, the SE model will be re-introduced.
My £'s are on the table!
But that's just my usual cynical mind at work though ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

ronp might be right - the last D3 XS's were close to the D3 SE's
I just did a quick check on LR website - whats missing from the D4 XS that I have on my 08 D3 SE are: Electric Leather Seats, Premium Harman/Kardon LOGIC surround audio system and Privacy Glass - what are they worth?Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
Privacy glass is an option on all specs, premium audio and (most importantly) electric seats are a deal breaker for me. Sat in a D4 GS with manual leather seats earlier, the leather is irrelevant it's the lack of adjustments on the manual seats (my only dislike back when I had an S) mean I won't consider an XS or below. HSE is too much for me so until they bring out an SE (or I find an extra £5k or so) I'll be sticking with the D3The End

You guys must be earning far too much money. The GS is more than I feel comfortable spending at this moment in my life. Electric seats are nice, but not that much of an essential commodity that I would go and spend another 8k on a higher spec model. Anyway, SWMBO has been warned about driving anything I own and not putting the seats back to within 5mm of where they were found If in doot, flat oot!!

I am now 90% certain on a D4, just awaiting the Qtr 4 deals from LR. My only option is a HSE as its the only one that has standard electric memory seat (no option on other models).

If they are still doing 60/40 split at 0% then I'm in
Whether it was sales talk, I'm not sure, but Town & County told me that the deal only lasted through til end of Sept. In fact, he went as far as to suggest that all deals had to be tied up before end of Sept... so you're D4 had to be in the forecourt and registered for the 0% to count.
As I said, could have been bull - but it did make my choice of the display model a little bit easier If in doot, flat oot!!
