So, the D4 is at the dealer for its MOT, been there since last Wednesday, so you all know this isn't going to be good.
I knew it needed new front lower arms and, Warranty Direct is covering the £999 cost for the works. It also apparently needs a new viscous fan and again, Warranty Direct is covering the cost for this.
However, Stratstone is telling me I need a new gearbox (£7,700 + labour + VAT) but don't know why!!! No fault codes present, but the engineer is convinced that, under testing, it's not right. Warranty Direct won't cover this, instead preferring the vehicle to be collected by TES Transmissions of Westbury on a low loader for them to strip down, diagnose and repair.
Questions:
- Does anyone have experience with/of TES?
- Has anyone had a gearbox repaired by TES?
- Has anyone had a new gearbox replaced under Warranty Direct?
I could use Bristol Transmissions but WD doesn't have an account with them, so I would have to pay for the works and then claim it back from WD afterwards.
Any thoughts/feedback on the above appreciated.

... the surely there would be a fault code?
Sounds a bit like a 'fishing expedition' by the stealers....
Out of the stealers hands now...it's off to TES on Friday on a lowloader. TES believes it more likely a torque converter or valve body wear issue (saying they rarely see a catastrophic ZF failure) but only recondition gearboxes, so a £3k bill for WD.

Yup, I've had personal experience of TES as they rebuilt my gearbox after it started making horrible noises in gear. First class service and they usually have a Disco in each week I wont say how much except that it was close to half of what your stealers were asking!
My first experience of TES was when they rebuilt my Freelander 1 autobox after a seized engine killed it Dave
D3 2006 HSE, Cairns Blue - gone
D4 2016 SE, White
So, TES went to test drive my D4 today to get a feel for what's wrong ahead of a full diagnosis, only they couldn't. Dashboard like a xmas tree and 100s of fault codes apparently. So they cleared them all to get themselves moving and, 50 yards up the road, restricted performance.
No transmission-based fault codes apparently, just a P006A-00 manifold absolute pressure (mass or volume air flow correlation) and P1247-00 turbocharger boost pressure low.
Could this be related to the cracked inlet manifold issue a few (including me) have mentioned on here, or is it something else? If it is, I only had my manifold replaced in October last year!!!!Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets!
