We had caranex, depends if you wish to sleep in the car or the tent, we have done both, with our Defender we slept in the tent, but not a lot of room for any thing else need to keep all stuff in the motor when sleeping, get up put away beding the you can put chairs up and cook brekfast. In the D3 slept in the back double mattress, first time had all suff on top of bed, so put tent up then all stuff in tent, second time lifted bed up with all stuff under bed, mutch eaiser. Then got oz tent. Found it eaiser to use oztent.

I got it done at a local place that makes/repairs canvas stuff.

I got the black heat proof material of ebay and then they provided the silver flame and heat retardant material. They had it left over from some MOD work they did - its the same stuff they use to sew into the roofs of the trucks so they can put a cooker and flu in the back.

they also sewed some weather flaps on each side so every thing is hidden away when the stove isnt being used.

yes,

my woodburner got very very hot this weekend and although the material didnt set on fire, the material did disintgrate !!

i was looking a getting one of those as well.

trick is to keep the burner just ticking over and not glowing red hot.

Also, I think a 3.9kg gas bottle burner is plenty big enough - ive got the next size up and I think its just a bit too big and heavy..
