TDV6 Water Distribution Housing
I am just replacing the water distribution housing on the front of the block on the TDV6. It comes with the two O rings that press down onto the head, but there appears to be a third O ring at the back above what looks like a heat exchanger of sorts. Land Rover conveniently don't supply that O ring with the distribution housing even though you will have to disturb it to fit the housing you have bought!
I guess I should replace this whilst the housing is off? Does anyone have a part number as I cant locate the part anywhere?

Looking closer it is the o ring on the oil cooler in front of the oil filter. I cant see it listed as a seperate part - do folks just leave these?

Don't leave it, as it will leak most likely when refitted.
Order from a Citroen dealer (or Peugeot I suspect)
Part number you need is 198171

Thanks for that - what a pain. I wonder why they don't supply this - a few pennies really, it should be in with the distribution housing.

Thanks for that.
I have a box of generic o rings (think it came from toolstation). They seem a good quality, but I am always wary of using them on vital bits like this. I will see if I can get a citroen one tomorrow. 'Luckily' I have two other land rovers whilst this one is off the road!!
ETA: having exposed it properly, I dont think any of my generic o rings will fit that. I will try Peugeot tomorrow.

When I first exposed the O ring I thought it looked a lot fatter than the usual ones but when I removed it I found that over time it had been flattened.

I had an Audi which did 200,000 miles with an o-ring from a caravan toilet stopping the oil falling out of the vacuum pump. It’s still going strong but much better to have the right part!!

Mine has gone very flat. I dont want to remove it (and likely damage it in the process) until I know for sure I have a replacement!)

Some pics of the housing. It looks like its been weeping and where the coolant has dried its just a sticky residue.
Not a lot of coolant came out on removal which was a little worrying. The bleed hose seemed empty when i disconnected it.

Ordered from Peugeot - £6.11, bit pricey but peace of mind that it will be replaced. I will pick it up tomorrow.
