Not really sure I would consider it to be a glowing review to be honest.
For me personally, the elephant in the room will always be the way it looks, as nothing can distract me from it and I could never bring myself to buy one. Even though I have now seen more of them (not many though), if anything I find it even worse now and certain colours really don't help.Andy

It's horses for courses, I quite like the car but the platform doesn't work for me, you can't stand on it to look out over the top of the car or to load things on the roof which is how I use mine. I can take an umbrella or coat to protect me from the elements but I can't do anything with a tailgate over the top of me.
The backside is weird full stop, everything else seems to be ok but not that. The howls of derision were loud with the D3 but I'm not sure they will stop and change to adoration like they did for the D3, probably in the main because there is too much out there so similar.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I have every reason to be very grateful to LR for launching the D5.
I've been checking the residual values of my own late D4 regularly over the last 6 months and I've never know an "obsolete" car hold its value this well. Thank you Gerry McGovern, don't let all the criticism get you down, you really do have a use after all! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I will own a D5 one day, and am looking forward to it ... but I'm still waiting for that rear-end design to magically make sense. I think calling it the 'elephant in the room' is accurate for how I feel.
I thought LR were brave with this tweet today, and the responses seem to show that the design of the rest is a common sore point amongst the public - well, to be fair, amongst those who felt the urge to reply.

D5 is like talking to someone who sounds attractive on the phone and meeting them and finding they are a munter.
Thr front is the phone call the rear is meeting them.
Herefordshire has always seen D3/D4 everywhere since day one but there are very few D5 about and a lot of end of line D4IID PRO

So, Land Rover publish some advertising on Twitter and get a backlash that they couldn't have expected. Just how many negative comments do they need to receive before they realise that Gerry McGovern just wasn't up to the job?
While there may be more dedicated, stronger stomached, diehards than me, who will defend just about anything that LR choose to call "Discovery", it's made a lot of owners look elsewhere - me included. It's just so very sad to see the Discovery line come to an end in this way 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Depends how many are actually LR owners and not just those jumping on the bandwagon who have no intention of buying one or haven't tried one.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Best of luck to current owners and future owners of the D5 as I genuinely hope that you like your cars. For me I do not like it and everytime I see one my feelings get stronger.
I was side by side with one today in roadworks on the A90 and realised that it is not just the rear end (which I instantly did not like) but a lot more of the shape that just does not work. Vertically there is too much metal from the A pillar back, the rear lights are too small and the front grill shape is just strange. I want to like it but can't so will be shopping elsewhere in a couple of years time. This isn't knocking copy but a post from previously loyal, disappointed LR owner who has done loads if miles in a Defender, D3 and now D4.2014MY Discovery
