tailgate load capacity
Hello all,
does anyone have a number for the load capacity of the lower tailgate in kilos?
I understand that one person can easily sit on it, but is there any official number from LR?
Thank you!Life in the slow lane

I seem to recall being told 250 kilos by the dudes at the Land Rover Experience in Honiton...But, could be wrong about that recollection!

SWMBO and young nephew were fine tho.All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.
2 big blokes are fine (at least on mine they were) so probably 200kgCraig

Yuo wouldn't - but you might STAND on it, each with your binoculars watching an equestrian event or other countryside pursuit Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I've had a "very generous" 250kg on mine, albeit briefly while pulling a maxibag of ballast out, so the two big blokes would have to be VERY big blokes to get anywhere near that Rob Smith

One American yes - 2 and a half 'normal' people
The tailgate is supposed to support 2 adults standing on it (not American adults though )Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

I've had two big blokes on mine standing up to watch the Fairford airshow last weekend, no problems at all. I suspect it will take quite a bit more than 250kg if that's what it's spec'd as.
No problems with two big blokes standing on it, don't be afraid to use it, it was designed for it!D3 HSE MY05 Auto
