G'Day,
Has anybody actually used a Tabor9K (or Magnum 9k) in anger? Please tell us your experiences.
They are built by Warn, and are allegedly an older design. Some say with nylon rather than bronze drum bearings, some say with a lower power motor (although they now appear to be shipping with the same motor specs as the XD9000 from Warn). They definitely are a lower cost and have a shorter warranty.
I can almost see them walking out of the various accessory places in Sydney (AU), but can't seem to find anyone who has used one for any serious work. I fitted a tabor 9k, the reason i chose it was that i would only have call for winching very occationally. i have had it fitted for about 6 months and used it 3 times and once to move a big tree.
i thought a cheap winch would do for that kind of use, so far it's been fine, no problems.
I did fit larger cables, selonoids etc, so if the winch gives any trouble i can just swap it for a better one.
I am not a expert on winches but my feeling would be if you need a winch for "serious work" then you should pick a better one. CLUB "Ah Shor it'll be grand"
