Ken - Does that rear quarter window open? Not really clear from the picture on the laptop.

How do the reverse sensors react to it ?

They just make the best of everything they have.

My understanding, based on exhaustive research (and I really mean surfing forums and reading specs) is mostly:

- you disable rear sensors completely
- you get/make a loom which bypasses the one under the carrier

Kaymar (!), I think, had their proprietary rear bumper (steel I think) which together with their single or dual spare wheel carriers worked even with the sensors.

Tactical rovers (yanks) had front and back bumpers made out of steel that were not sensor compatible.

Had to lookup what black tac is but it dampens the signal from the sensors?

They hate it...

But a simple solution is to put a rubber inner-tube repair patch on it. Something to do with the patch absorbing the signal as opposed to just blocking it.

It works for me Thumbs Up And did the same for a friend when we fitted his one Thumbs Up

I had been thinking about the sensor issue - Seems you've already got that covered (no pun intended) Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

What's the best one out there then folks? I'd like to have a good nosey at the design and reviews.

Found one more:

A polish company sells these http://mp4x4.pl/lr-discovery-iii-05-09/196...ii-iv.html. 1250 PLN is less than 300 EUR.

They’ve got pretty nice looking tree sliders, too. http://mp4x4.pl/progi-land-rover/4447-prog...ry-iv.html

Both have, according to google translate, galvanized a zinc primer and then powder coat.

They don't look that bad to be fair - Liking the additional storage box idea...

Only problem with buying abroad is IF there is ever an issue, return shipping etc could be a real pain!

Found another, let’s call it in the premium priced carrier category, from Rijidij Off-road in Australia. Unlike most carriers, this one mounts the wheel higher up which makes it not to interfere with the rear sensors at all (both according to users and the manufacturer). Install instructions are in color and excellent.

https://rijidijoffroad.com.au/products/dis...l-carrier/

Price with Australian sales tax was roughly 1500 AUD or a “nice” 1000 EUR using today’s conversion rate.

They also manufacture stainless steel cup holders because drinks in Australia need them I guess Mr. Green Whistle https://rijidijoffroad.com.au/products/sta...up-holder/

I have spoken to a local fabrication company who are happy to tackle the job. I could do with a broken / 2nd hand one just to get a feel for one in front of me - Anyone have a tatty or knackered one kicking about?
