suspension issues/problems |
|
I've been having a few issues with the suspension on my 05 hse tdv6. Last month it was a red warning light with the car sinking, that turned out to be a corroded ride height sensor which i got charged £200 at the dealers, now for the last 3 weeks i have been getting a amber light on with the msg "normal height only" it used to clear with the ignition off, ignition on cycle but now it comes on 3-4 mins after the engine started all the time. The compressor doesn't seem any more nosier than before and no obvious sinking over night.
I don't have access to a fault reader and reluctant to take it to a dealer yet as last time it cost me £200 to get the fault code read and a connector changed.
Can anyone shed some light on it? Or any body in the Southampton/Portsmouth/isle of wight area with a fault code reader?

IMHO half the battle with suspension problems (and I had my fair share) is trying to pin point the exact fault at the exact time...
I'd do two things:
i. Get someone to enable your 4x4 info so you can watch the ride sensors and spot which one (if any) might be causing issues.
ii. Get a Faultmate. I now have my own Faultmate, and if I had my time again, I'd have bought one in when I first had my suspension problem. I go to a great dealers, but the ability to clear intermittent faults and monitor them would save plenty of time without the vehicle and cost getting tests done 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

i have the 4x4 info screen but all wheels are showing as ok. I also dont think this is related to the first problem as with the first problem the wheel that had the ride height sensor problem dropped on the screen. After the dealer fixed it everything was good for a week or so, then this problem appeared.
