Suspension Fault (Red Symbol)

On the journey home tonight had the "bong" suspension fault, Max speed 30mph special programs off. Pulled over, turned it on and off and all appeared to be fine. Drove on a few more miles and it happened again.
Done the same again by turning on and off this time it said suspension raising slowly. Managed to nurse it home as i was very near. But now when parked up in normal height the rear seems to be at off road setting and the front normal.

One other thing is that another light appeared which looked like an orange headlight with an arrow above it.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be surprised if your basic model had adaptive dancing headlights.

Is the battery / alternator ok ?

Re: Suspension Fault (Red Symbol)

Hi

Did you receive any clues on this please?

I have something similar happening. Odd thing is no faults are logged ... the red light can appear, then a few seconds later without stopping it can disappear. Then the orange light will come on other times, again disappearing by magic!

Help please ....

Thanks
Rob

What are you using to read the codes? If you’ve had red and amber warnings then codes will be stored.

My indie is working on it, his equipment (not exactly sure which type) normally has no problems reading the codes on my Disco.
But we get nothing on these intermittent faults.

Oddly, it tends to happen more when I have weight on the nearside ... passenger etc.

It could be height sensor on that side then, but it’s probably best to wait for the fault to stay logged so you can diagnose it properly.

If you suspect the sensor swap them over and see if it transfers the fault

Wierd .....

It gets worse.

We tried swapping the two rear sensors for aftermarket ones, they wouldn't clear the faults at all.
Nothing, no way of even getting the system to see them.

So we tried genuine LR sensors ... one of them cleared, but the 2nd one wouldn't reset. So the compressor wouldn't start, suspension on the ground etc.

So we went back to the original ones that came off the vehicle. Turned the key, all faults cleared without even plugging our box in, suspension rises to normal height ... but start driving and the red lights of death appear and the suspension lowers!

Checked and recalibrated steering angle sensor / no leaks in air dryer assembly / new master relay etc.

We are pulling what hair we have left out! Any clues please ? Big Cry Embarassed Confused

Thanks
Rob

Are you sure that it’s a suspension fault? The vehicle will lower for all sorts of non suspension issues.

wonder if it could possibly be a wiring issue seeing it goes on and off intermittently

either by the near side rear or behind the front NS wheel arch liner as i know others have had problems with wires

after inspecting the wiring, start the engine then move the wires around both ns front and rear and at height sensors to see if any fault appears
