Just had new tyres fitted today @ local kwik-fit. I put the car in off-road height ready for when they jacked it up, but the tyre techie bloke was able to put it into extended mode and being short in the leg department I almost needed a step ladder to get into the car
Anyone know how to do it on a D4 , I forgot to ask the tyre techie before I drove off

Assuming its the same as the D3, then just put something under one of the axles (a jack, or a lump of wood) in normal mode, then drop it into Access Height and up she pops 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)
2005 D3 S 10-12 (gone and missed)

As soon as it is lifted to change the tyres it goes into extended mode automatically. They did nothing special for this to happen.
But as twelve sticks said you make it do it without jacking it up. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Micheldever Tyres dropped my old D3 off a jack when it suddenly went into extended mode... they didn't have a clue. I heard the crash as I took a sip of coffee and just knew it would be mine! When I rushed out I saw they'd lifted the whole vehicle on just two jacks - middle of the front and middle of the back... duhhh

He put it in extended mode before they started jacking it up so there must be a way of doing it.
@kljw, never had any problems with kwik-fit in all the years I've owned cars. (which is quite a few)

you can only get into extended (or super extended) when the chassis runs aground.
by jacking the car up on the chassis it would have gone into extended. I doubt very much that they have the LR / Faultmate equipment to do this electronically - it would have been the cars reaction to the jacking that did it.
leave one of the doors open when jacking and the suspension travel will be limited. Duncan
