Suspension Dropping Automatically

Hi all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum thread but it was the busiest so thought it was correct. After returning from holiday, I noticed the whole car had dropped to its bump stops. This was over a period of two weeks. I am fairly sure this is a much shorter time period for the car to automatically lower. Whilst the car re-inflated, I found the front airbags re-inflate much slower than usual (vehicle inflating slowly message appears in dash). This is still going on to this day, (two weeks later). I have done a leak test (Off-road height with fuse F26 pulled out) and it did not showing any signs of leaking over a period of more than 24 hours. With the fuse in, the car usually maintains its height over a long period (couple of days), however some nights (even after use), it will deflate back down to its bump stops. The car will then re-inflate in the same manner mentioned above. This made me believe it was a leaking middle valve block and not the compressor or the tank.

I have now found that the rear passenger side drops spontaneously when the engine is on. This is infrequent but has happened more than once. The two situations make me believe that this is a software issue as I am assuming they are related. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Suspension dropping over the course of 3 weeks is a sure sign of a leak. It might be that the front and rear valve blocks want a rebuild with new seals, or at worst you have a leaky air bag or pipe.

Start with the simplest job, go over the pipes and air bags wit soapy water to look for bubbles.

Thanks for the reply Richard, I had already done a soapy water test but thought I'd do another. No leaks and the suspension hasn't dropped since I posted. I did, however, have a repeat of the problem with the rear passenger side suspension where it just vented the suspension down to the bump stop. The engine was off but the key was in ignition. Starting the car re-inflated in automatically back to standard height.
