Suspension diagnostics

So my 08 plate Disco3 XS Manual has been getting an "Suspension locked at normal height" fault for a few weeks now.

Things checked so far.

Indy says system has no leaks
Suspension will raise and lower on first switching on the car
Car will stay in extended mode with no drop on any side
Compressor changed 5ish years ago
My ODB code reader (cheapo one from Amazon) shows no faults
Fuses all checked out ok

I suspect a sensor failure, but I've no idea how to work out which one(s) might be faulty.

Can anyone provide any advice as to my next steps? I suspect I'll probably need an IID style diagnostic, but I'm happy to try other things first if anyone has any suggestions.

I bet your compressor is on its last legs, that’s how mine started playing up eventually I was driving on bump stops with suspension fault light on.

hi

personally the first thing i would do is check ur suspension heights is calibrated ok

u have 3 x height settings, access, normal and off road, extended is when it’s thinks it’s grounded and this height can’t be selected

1)set the suspension height level to normal
2) measure from the bottom of the wheel arch to the centre of the wheel
3) u may find it easier using some masking tape to mark the centre of ur wheels
4) ur looking for in mm
front 465mm
rear 485 mm

do u get any warning lights

alas it may also as suggested be a failing compressor , with an iid ur be able to check live data and indeed prove that 100%

hope that helps as a start for u Thumbs Up

PS, indeed buying an iid are a godsend and pay for themselves very quickly

Maybe remove and service the compressor with a kit, could just be the desiccant clogged up.

Suspension dropping and ABS & Brake yellow warning lights

Hi. I have just resolved the issue of the suspension dropping to low mode and yellow warning lights for ABS, brakes and loss of all off road capabilities. And i have to thank all who write on this forum as this helped me resolve the issue for a mere £13! Yes that is correct.
I trusted several reports of faulty wiring, earths and brake light switch and set about cleaning the lights, connections and earth points. There was moisture in the o/s rear light plug. This alone did not rectify the problem. I then purchased a brake light switch from GSF. Issue resolved. It took me 30 seconds to remove the old unit, less than 2 minutes to install the new unit and around the same time to wipe all the faults from the computer. Thumbs Up So far so good since the installation this morning.
If you purchase a new brake light switch PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS WITHIN THE PACK. The unit comes with a release mechanism that is activated when you twist the unit into place. DO NOT PRESS THE PLUNGER ON THE NEW UNIT TO TRY IT! THIS WILL RENDER IT USELESS! Practice removing and installing with the OLD unit until you know how it fits. All you need to do is remove the Panel under the steering wheel and access is straight through to the switch.
Once again a big thanks to all who update this site with extremely useful tips and information.
Happy fixing.
Jon

You need to describe exactly what fault you have. You also need to detail what lights are lit and when they occur. Also, is the suspension pump running at all and any other symptoms that may be relevant.
Give as much detail as possible otherwise you'll receive random solutions which really won't help you sort your problem. Thumbs Up
