Suspension calibration and Autel AP200 |
|
Has anyone you owns the AP200 used it to calibrate their suspension and if so what should be the standard height wheel arch to hub, front and rear in mm’s please. Many thanks in advance.

All sorted. Yes it worked, 466mm front and 485mm rear. What a great piece of kit for the money 👍

I have an AP200 as well and recently had a go at calibrating with it. Unfortunately, everything was so far out it wouldn't accept the measurements. I guess one of the benefits of the more expensive options is being able to manually adjust the ride height.
Other than that, its been great for what I want

Couldn’t you get it closer ? And cal 3 times ?
It maybe you were measuring it wrong ?

It can be done in this situation (if it’s the same situation as mine was in) with the Autel, it just takes longer. Once you work out what it’s expecting to be told the measurements are, you can tweak it up or down by a few mm of intentional mis-measuring each time.
My rear end was measured around 50mm too high and the front about 30mm high in standard height it was also loppy side to side, and the ride was akin to a small boat on rough seas when carrying any kind of speed. Sickening!
My trouble was finding a flat and level surface… after that I think it took 6 overall attempts, given the app allows you 3 goes per attempt before telling you it’s failed, that’s 18 measures of each corner over a whole day to allow the compressor a small rest. It’s now absolutely lovely.
Best £50 I’ve spent on the Disco so far and it can even see the AWD fault on my Vauxhall, which is definitely worth £20 for a year as a second manufacturer, just for that one fault code! A couple of years back the local (Vauxhall franchised!) garage charged me £80 to tell me 2x glow plugs were shot (they’re special plugs too…) and couldn’t even see the AWD system for diagnosis D4 XS Commercial - MY16 - Corris Grey

I’ve fixed my whole car with this diagnostic tool. Parking sensors up and running. Suspension fault is sorted.
I tried this height calibration yesterday. I’m thinking I might have to go to a supermarket carpark for a level ground. My drive looks level to the eye but is slightly tipped towards the road. My heights were bang on by that third attempt. Then it tells me my measurements are out of the required tolerance.
Did you have this happen at all

Yes, it took quite a few goes and some white lies (1mm here and there) until it accepted and saved my calibration.
Autel always had it bang on after the first raise/lower/measure, but wouldn’t accept the measurements, 2nd go and another raise/lower/measure and its high at the back etc, took those fine, 3rd go and it’d be low somewhere and take those measurements before failing and telling me something physical was broken.
So I’d make another attempt, first go bang on, rejected by 1mm here or there, 2nd is miles out, 3rd is miles out, failure, broken. Try again, don’t cook the compressor.
Eventually I found the numbers it wanted and got them in on the first go (when it measured correct) and it just said saved successfully and went back to the previous menu. Been perfect ever since.

I only did one calibration of 3 goes. The calibration process allows time for the compressor to cool as it takes so long to decide it’s fully up before going down. I also had to think about fuel as it’s hard to find these days. 😂

Hello,
I have also a problem with the height calibration. I am from Austria and my english is maybe not the best. Somebody changed the height sensor already, but the car is now not even, especially at the rear.
I tried to calibrate several times, every time with the reply that the calibration failed.
When the cross link valves are opened the car is levelled quite well. It is on the right height, rear left is about +20mm at that time rear right about -20mm. So if I put in the values (about 480mm at the rear) the calibration fails.
Should I try to put in fake values, so that the correction offset is not to high at one step? Or what is the reason for the fail?

I’ve not got to the bottom of this yet. My car had a failed calibration but it was measuring in at 475 on all corners for what ever reason. So I left it at that.
Before I started calibrating on the rear, it was 500 and 480
On the front was 455 465

This all sounds interesting as I have the AP200 but not considered doing this at all. Would not know where to start but wil have to look it up unless someone does a guide…. 🙏👍 2007 Discovery 3 HSE Lugano Teal

Were These value the Real ones, or Were that values stored in the Computer?

They were the real manual measured values. After the calibration I had real measured values of 475 on all four corners. That was by my third attempt

Leave the engine running the entire time might be about 15 min.
It asks for measurement from wheel arch to Center of wheel on each corner. Enter them.
Then it will lift to off road height, then come back down to standard re adjusted and ask for measurements again. If it’s not correct it will go up again, then come back down and ask for the measurements again. It does this 3 times. But hopefully it will sort it within the 3 trys
