There are so many places to go to.
Also different ways of doing it, solo vehicle, a few friends, tag along convoy (some get large, look at their pricing structure!) some do the cooking for you (Waypoint Tours)
What are your language skills like?
Scandinavia is not as expensive as some people think if done sensibly. Little in way of security problems and you do not need to ask if shop assistant speaks English! Great scenery, active local L R clubs.
Baltic countries, great place to go, relative safe, English spoken in some places, otherwise smile and be patient
Eastern Europe, less safe, English not so widely spoken, cheaper, great place to go.
Australia, fantastic place to go,English not spoken, but local lingo understanable with some quaint phrases. Awesome scenery, large distances.
Spain, Portugal, English not so widely spoken away from the Costas. North better then South
Enough ideas?
Brendan

It is the quaint way the letter O any Y is used i.e. rego and tinny
Nice expressions like off bitumen, dunny etc.
I do have a dictionary from Aussie to English
Also to make our convict descendent feel less hurt the citizens of the USA do not actually speak English and Sinaporeans admit they speak Singenglish.
So Peter I hope you don't encounter too many drop bears today
Brendan
PS I apologise about slight typo error. These responds were done on an iPad

Safe English?
My command of the English language is not so good, I have been known to pm members on here asking what they mean by words or expressions, but 'safe english'?
Can somebody enlighten me here?

Hi Leeds,
Surely you realise that we truncate words in order to minimise the number of flies entering our mouths while speaking.
Can you tell me the repository of English in the UK? From the number of Yorkshire cricketers that have played for the MCC, I can't see it being there.
As for drop bears, I'm "experienced" enough for them not to cause me any difficulty. (They mainly prey on tourists anyhow.)
Best Wishes,
Peter The Bearded Dragon

Wiljo,
I apologise, brain is mashed after talking to a few hundred people at the NEC all day.I missed a comma out and it should have read
Baltic countries, great place to go, relative safe, English spoken in some places,
Chocolademan you will probably find more dodgy shopkeepers with a lack of English in certain areas of Bradford or Leicester then in northern Sweden
Peter I also managed to avoid the drop bears, spiders and snakes. The flies, sand and sun were a bit harder to avoid however. Some roos, sheep, ostrich and wedge tail eagle did not manage to avoid a 110 however

Sorry about that leeds.... It was early and I think I was overtired after working all night. Have to admit Bradford is worse seeing as thats where I am from.
As for Norway, just drop a note if you want any tips for sight seeing....... 8) Faultmate MSV2 MultiVehicle

Cman are you still in Bradford? Despite my login in name I live in Mountain which has a BD13 code.
Have had a few trips around Scandinavia and love the place. Barbara gave a talk on Scandinavia and Eastern Europe at last years RGS Overland weekend whilst I gave one on Australia
Brendan
PS I wrote my reply at whatever o'clock after my brain was mashed and knees playing up so no need for an apology.

Hi Brendan,
I hope that your 110 didn't suffer too much, although you seemed to find quite a selection.
For ostrich, I guess that you mean emu. They are big, fast and not very bright. I wouldn't like to see one heading for my windscreen.
The wedge-tailed eagle (wedgy ) are quite large and don't really have any predators. This means that they don't keep an eye out when feeding on road kill. When they eventually recognise the danger, their take off is lumbering.
Best Wishes,
Peter
PS: Sorry about the sun and sand, we are cursed with a lot of that. The Bearded Dragon

Yes it was emu. Had 4 of them running down the track in front of me. Three went off one side fourth the other side before changed it's mind and become an ex emu.
The wedge did most damage. It managed to bend one of the aerials before limping off.
Sheep and Roos went underneath with no damage to vehicle. Luckily no big greys.
