Suppliers of Gearbox and Diff oils

Hi,

At the next service I am looking to replace all oils, engine, transfer box, auto g'box and front and rear diffs.

Has anyone found sources other than the dealer for these oils?

There are a obviously a number of sources of the engine oils and I have found an alternative(cheaper) source for the front diff oil: Castrol SAF XO.

It's the locking rear diff oil: Castrol SAF Carbon Mod Plus, and Auto Gearbox oil: Shell ATF m1375.4 that I am having difficulty finding alternative sources or alternative lubricants for. Any ideas?

I have purchased dealer sourced transfer box oil as this seems to be the only place this can be got.

Otherwise it is back to Nick at Yeovil to add all these to the ever increasing bill !!

Cheers,
John

I've bought oils from Difflock in past for old disco and defender, Sorry don't know specifics you're after but might be worth a look.

Went all Mobil synthetic in my Engine, auto trans, T-Case and Difs on my D2 - will most likely do the same on the D3 when the time comes.

Check out the Mobil website for details.

I use this in my D2 T-Case and Difs: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorO...-90LS.aspx

I use this in my D2 and D3 (petrol) engines: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorO..._5W30.aspx

And I use this in my D2 auto trans: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorO...c_ATF.aspx

Great products IMHO.

Did a nice little tricks with 4 ramps to get easier access when draining and filling the ATF Thumbs Up

Thanks for the responses so far.

It seems even Mobil don't do anything to replace the Auto box fluid. I have recently read that Shell developed it for this 6 speed box.

The castrol website is useless for listing their products i.e. it doesn't list them all.

This is a great site if you haven't seen it already:

LR3 Trans oil is US$53/1000ml(inc tax) from LR Aust here.
Are the containers 500ml in your BritPacific ad. ? ( print is too small to read )
