Stupid question about brake lights
Just been doing some checks to the D3 as I'm away on a touring holiday tomorrow.
Now I am useless when it comes to cars and not sure about something so thought I would ask.
The rear light units on left and right of the car, the top bulb is a stop / tail light when I push the brake pedal it comes
on. However the bulb directly below it seems to also be a stop / tail bulb. But does not come on with the foot brake on either side.
Is this then a case of both bulbs needing to be changed or is it just wired up as a tail light. So only the top bulb is a brake light.
Thanks in advance for any help with thisI have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!
It is wired that way.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Just means you have a spare one handy either side for when the stop filament fails. Clive

The regulations only allow for a maximum of three brake lamps - with one of those in the centre....2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Thanks for all your replies. It makes me smile as the parts chap from TH Whites came out to see which bulbs I wanted and I told him the brake light fillament had blown in each of them. Would have been nice if he had told me what you have.I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!
