Stressed if you are more than 1/2 hour from an LR Specialist
We are currently at Uluru or Ayres rock (just about dead centre Australia) and 1,000+ km from the nearest LR specialist. I spotted these guys checking in to our campsite.
My first though was who but a Disco owner would carry a solid towline thingy but then I looked at all the gear they had (a few fishing rods otherwise spares and off-road gear) and these guys really knew what they were doing.
I spoke to one of the guys and they had just crossed the Simpson desert and are going right to left across Australia. The disco had only been towed for 80kms so they were lucky from that angle - could have happened in the middle of the desert. Reckons it was a busted fuel pump - apparently it was brand new before the trip.
Unfortunately it was being towed by a Toyota Hilux. If any of you British chaps make it down here don't get caught in the pub with a Toyota 4wd owner I was talking to the Toyota driver and just as I pedaled off he said "normally he is towing us". Made my day!
