I'd far prefer to get Flack to do my timing belts, the headache is for warranty it needs to be done by somebody VAT registered
I got Farnells down to £700 last year based on the Stratstones offer - does make you wonder how Stratstones can do it so cheap........ah yes Sir, we've noted another £3.5k work that needs doing......
Discovery 3/4 & RRS keys cut and programmed at your home or work

I've now received a response from Stratstones which doesn't take us much further:-
Quote:
Option 2 does not include auxiliary drive belt. It includes front and rear camshaft belts, tensioners and bolts.
Option 2 is purely the cambelt option.
The reply didn't address my request for a price to change the oil pump & I have responded saying this & also asking for a price to change the auxiliary drive belt which Land Rover schedule to be done contemporaneously:-
Quote:
23. Renew ancillary driving belts (Diesel)
I will share their response here.

I'd also prefer Flack to do my timing belts but I understand he doesn't come out of hibernation until March, when the weather may be better.
I can appreciate it can't be much fun standing outside in the cold and rain changing the timing belts on a TDV6.
When you're ready, Mick, I'll have the kettle on and some bacon sarnies on the go.

Stratstones response for replacing Ancillary Belt, Oil Pump & Seal:-
Quote:
Parts
Ancillary Belt £ 24.70
Oil Pump & Seal £ 83.79
Labour 1.7hrs @£140.00 = £238.00
Vat £69.30
Total £415.79
Add this to the advertised price for option 2 of £399 totals £814.79
Now I'm pondering option 1 + Oil pump & seal...

Add to that, the cost of an "A" Service (oil and filter change) and there's not much change out of £1k.
As far as I can tell, Option 2 does not include an oil change.
Out of interest, a Dayco aux belt from Advanced Factors is £16.82 and an oil pump is £63.

Am I missing something here? Their Option 1 is for
Option 1: Full 105k service = £599
Which is supposed to include the ancillary belt (and presumably the fitting of) plus the oil change etc as well as the other belts - the only 'extra' should be the oil pump and seal should it not?

Oil pump, oil seal, and crank pulley bolt are the extras you should need on top of Option 1. 2021 BMW iX3 Premier Edition in Carbon Black ⚡️🔌

I've been chasing Stratstones Milton Keynes for the past few days to confirm the actual cost of the belts only offer plus 2x idler pulleys and oil pump replacement. The service department have confirmed this evening that the belts only offer for £399 includes the two idlers within the kit of parts; however, they had to contact the parts department for pricing so I'm not entirely convinced they haven't confused the two idlers with the tensioners They also forgot about the oil pump so they'll have to call me back, they've failed to do so on two occasions now, the second being today when they had no record of my call from this morning or the fact they were supposed to be providing costs for additional work.
The labour rate is £130 so the final bill is likely to be the best part of £900.GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

The idlers are £40.30+vat EACH from LR so I doubt they're included in the price of £399 for the belts, as Mike said earlier in the thread that's belts and tensioners only
I'm fairly sure Strastones don't know an idler from a tensioner as I also got told by Stratstones Bury they were in with 'the kit' which clearly they are not!

I too had a less than satisfactory attempt at getting my belts changed by Stratstone (Bury) .... all I wanted was a price for the belts and the oil pump casing at the same time - it seemed beyond the wit of the nice lady on the phone who insisted on trying to "book it in", - just tell me how much please?, "shall we book it in and we will ring you", no thanks perhaps best to find out the price before booking in, "ok, shall I book it in?", - I eventually pointed her to the website that gave the discounted price for the job and asked her to find out how much extra for the oil pump casing....... believe it or not she asked me again to book it in......
It was clear that no progress was being made so she said she would find out the total price and ring me back. Needless to say I never heard from them again so decided to ditch my Warranty Direct policy and get Flack to do it. Good choice methinks as the oil pump casing was indeed cracked.2007 Base D3 - Buckingham Blue
