If you look in the front wheels around the top, the tires would hit the so called "Ball joint" Not sure what you guys call this in GB. The stormer wheels have range rover offset, but I know that range rover wheels do infact fit...Would I need some spacers?

Are you sure they hit, as 295/45x20's fitted on RRS 20" alloys dont (standard offset is 53mm). They look they are going to touch, but when the wheelnuts are tight, they do clear. Its very close (10mm), but they never get any closer, and this is still way more clearence than you get on most cars between the alloy and the brake caliper.

Spacers would solve it, although I'm not sure I'd want to use spacers. I cant see how a 295/45 tyre clears, but a 285 doesnt, even at 50 profile, it should be taller and thinner. What tyre pressure is it, are they pumped up enough, or being allowed to squash out (although this should only be at the bottom)

Are the wheel definately 53mm offset?

Well they are the stormer wheels from the same factory as the genuine ones but they are deffected astheticaly only...So should have have range rover offset...The tires were pumped to the correct pressure. What spacer would solve this so I can go on the hunt for some...Thank you for all the help!

Have a look at this tyre calculator

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

It shows a 285/50 tyre being slightly bigger than a 295/45, but slighty narrower. And, more importantly, when compared with a standard 255/55x19, its almost 4% bigger. Rule of thumb is no more than 2.5% different to standard. (a 295/45x20 is 1.36% bigger), so it sounds like you've got the wrong tyres anyway. And, what's the wieght rating on the 285's (111 or above required)

Fitting spacers moves the wheel center outwards, and puts more strain on wheel bearings, suspension parts, whereas the center line of the 20's is in the same place as the 18's or 19's, so I'd swop the tyres for some 275/45's or 295/45's, and this will put the sizing back closer to standard as well.

Are the tyres unused, will your tyre place not swop them for some of the size you want?

well the tyre in that pic is a 295/45x20 General Grabber UHP (you can see the word General), so you can see that it clears.
