After five weeks of ownership the STOP/START (2015) has driven me crazy, so I tend to turn it off after starting the engine
However, now on start up the ECO symbol appears on the dash and if I press the button then "ECO Stop/Start not available" appears on the dash below the symbol.
Any ideas please?

I had this and it was the small stop/start battery that had failed. It was showing around 9 volts when checked.

Likely small battery
I had this too. Test it to see what the voltage is. Mine was 11.5V. Replaced and fine. You could see if you can rescue it with a smart charger. I tried that with my CTEK but it came up with an error.
Pressing the button turns off stop start so the message is correct. The ECO symbol warning message is typical of the small battery not being capable of Doing stop start.
Typical cost for battery is around £40. LR original battery is about £140 ! The Exiide battery I purchased was exactly the same but without the LR sticker. There are a couple of threads on here with details.
Come back if you need further info and to let us know what you find
Cheers Gary

Guess you know where the main battery is - the stop start battery is under a similar looking removable black plastic cover but on the offside of the engine bay.

Here’s a link to a similar thread.
Contains details of the replacement.

This thread may also be of interest. Mentions a supplier in your neck of the woods (well SW anyway) at a really good price. Might be worth exploring.

Absolutely excellent service by garage, full marks as they picked my car up from 60 miles away, renewed the battery, and did another few things free of charge
