Just had a strange rattle start from the front of the car - generally when stopped / idling and on looking underneath there appear to be 2 separate stone shields, 1 under the engine & the 2nd behind that (I assume shielding the gearbox?).
The front one is fully secured but the rear one is held securely at the front edge by 3 bolts while the rear appears to be unsecured and just sits on what I think is part of the chassis frame but this allows it to move up an inch or so which I think is where the rattle is coming from. (slightly worrying is that this only happened after the wheels were changed over to my winter set which are the D3 style 19" alloys - not by me but by a tyre specialist who used 4 trolley jacks to lift the car)
Can anyone check under their D4 to establish whether the rear edge of the 2nd under-body shield is secured or is loose as on my car, and if it is secured then what exactly holds it in place?
Thanks

Got to the bottom of this. Had used a local tyre specialist to change over to my winter tyres; took the Independent LR 4x4 dealer only 5 mins to find that the rattle was caused by the under body shield being loose - 2 bolts were missing, caused by the so-called tyre specialist having put their trolley jacks in a position that applied pressure to the shield and "popping" the bolts out
Worth watching exactly where the jack is positioned as this would be easily done whether by a dealer or just when DIY changing wheels.
